So, tonight, I took a bath. And then went downstairs to go to bed, only to discover that all the water from my bath was draining down into my room through the light fixtures.

That's not the lucky part. That part sucks.

What's lucky is that due to my decision when I moved in to push my bed under the window, I don't have to sleep on the couch tonight. My light fixtures are perfectly situated in between my bed and the dresser, ensuring that all that got soaked was the carpet and the side of my bed. If they were anywhere else, it would be a much bigger mess.

I'm hoping the landlord will help with this. I'm pretty sure being able to take a bath without turning my room into a pool isn't an unreasonable request.

I have an interview for an attendant position at an animal hospital!

Have started my work at the shelter and wildlife center. On Mondays I'm the only one working in the cat room during my shift, and it's also the only day the shelter is closed to the public, so I get to be alone with the kitties. There are a lot of kittens, because it's summer, and they're adorable. My favorite cat is named Merlin, however. He has long silky black and white fur, and he loves nothing better than to snuggle in your lap. And he has the most amazing tail, haha.

My shift with the dogs starts after my cat shift ends, and oh my goodness. Some of those dogs completely wear me out! They're so eager to get outside and play. I had a problem in particular wiith Teddie, one of the pit bulls. He dragged me all over the trail and then absolutely refused to go back in his kennel, jumping on me and biting at my knee. He managed to slip his collar off and get out, so I had to grab him and wrap my arms around his neck to keep him from going anywhere. Needless to say, I wasn't very successful. He's pure muscle, and if he decided he didn't want to do something, there wasn't much I could do to make him do it. Finally this older guy took him from me and managed to get him inside, although he had quite a bit of difficulty with it too.

I'm still sore from that! He's not a bad dog by any means, he's just strong, and really wanted to go play with the other dogs.

The wildlife hospital is turning out to be really interesting. As of now we even have a bear cub, bobcat, seal pup, fawn, and baby beavers, along with the multitude of other animals we're caring for at the moment. I've learned a lot already, and I can only imagine how much more I'll learn as I spend more time there. I have to say, having worked at the zoo has served me well when it comes to being prepared for some of the tasks -- some of the other trainees looked positively ill at being told they'd have to skin and debone rats for meals!

To ward off any confusion, this is faoiltiamatani, having just changed her name to something people can actually spell.

And I can actually say it, which helps when someone asks me what my livejournal is. (The "ll", by the way, is silent.)

For anyone who doesn't recognize the reference, Llamrei was the name of King Arthur's mare. I figured I'd combine several of my interests in one name. And give Biz endless opportunities to make jokes about people riding me.

I also fussed around with the layout. I'm fail at anything involving coding, but I love this Nabari picture so much I couldn't not use it for something. And I needed a new layout because my old one had my username on it.

aphonetic asked me to post my fourth of July photos, so I am. I don't have that many, but here they are. Went to Gas Works Park for food and fireworks. There were a lot of people there, and it was fun. Hung out with nekokoban, wonderseal, and miss_arel. Didn't take pics of the fireworks because I think it's kind of pointless to take fireworks pictures, and there were a million other people filming it, so I'm sure it's on youtube many times over. Did take a video of the girl singing the national anthem and the beginning of the show, but that's stll loading. I can add it later.

It was a good day, except when I fell down the hill. My butt still hurts quite a bit from that, and I think it screwed up my hip, because now walking's hard. Sigh.

Ugh, had a really terrible night. Was hallucinating for several hours at least, and my head was killing me. Why can't I ever have fun hallucinations? Why always the terrifying ones? Still have a residual headache, but it's not nearly as bad as it was.

Heading to Gas Works Park with nekokoban, because there are festivities there, and because it apparently has one of the best fireworks displays. And FOOD! Should be fun.

Happy 4th to the other Americans on my flist. Would stick around, but greasy food is calling me~!

So, uh. Today a brand new scanner arrived on our doorstep, courtesy of beanclam.

The deliveryman thought it would be smart to hide the huge box under the doormat. (It's not.)

Beanie, you're crazy, and we love you. ♥&hearts♥ And as we've told you a million times, having you visit us would have been more than enough payment for staying at our place, honestly.

So, biztheinsane has decided that I need a new username.

This is nothing new, I have needed a new username for a loooong time. However, I refuse to accept any of her crazy suggestions.

So, please help? I've been trying to think up a new username for ages, and have been unsuccessful. ):

Am pretty boring as of late. Applying to jobs. Sleeping. Annoying Katy. Fighting with the cat, who has stopped caring about having water thrown on him, the brat.

I actually did get a response from one job, which was basically "You're perfect for the job, but you live too far away." Sigh.

Ah well. I have training for the shelter work tonight. I feel pretty stagnant, so hopefully that will get my blood moving again and I'll perk up. I'd like to volunteer a lot more than I currently am signed up for, but they don't want me signing up for more shifts while I'm actively job-hunting, because they don't want me to drop them quickly. Understandable.

My mom wants me to fly down to... clean out my room, haha, and take the yearly family photo. But she has tickets for the King Tut exhibit going on, so I'll get to see that.

So, I took a nap. And during this nap I dreamed. In this dream, I was hanging out with Katy and various other people I know of through the internets but have forgotten who they were.

We were eating icons.

As in Livejournal icons.

They came arranged like chocolate bars, a different icon per square, and we would break them off and pass them around and eat them.

This is weird in itself, but what frustrates me is I can't remember what they tasted like.

I only know it was addictive.

vulchu and nekokoban are making us watch Supernatural. In exchange, we get to show them Due South.

But when episode two of Supernatural started? katmaxwell and I screamed at the same time upon seeing Callum Keith Rennie's name. THEY HAVE ALREADY MERGED.

Also, why must the second episode have one of the only legends that I have actual trauma issues with. The fact that I am from California and these are all legends I am very familiar with does not help. But honestly, this one? Fuck you, Supernatural.

So uh, stuff. Have started training to volunteer at an animal shelter and wildlife rehab. I'm going to be working in the cat kennels, walking the dogs, and being a wildlife care assistant. And possibly feeding lots of baby birds. Guys there are baby beavers.

Still looking for a job, am getting no replies, this is basically the same for everyone right now.

Have felt pretty crappy and dizzy the past couple of days, and my stomach insisted on having severe pains every time I ate. And frequently during the night. Hopefully that's done with now.

Finished playing Twilight Princess. The only Zelda game I ever finished, and I'm sad I'm done playing it.

Also caught up on Naruto, after... a very long time, and am actually really enjoying the recent developments. Am going to keep an eye on it for a while. However, the downside is I was reminded of how utterly terrible the fandom is. Sigh.

My Hetalia shirt arrived today. Have reached a new level of dorkiness. Am finding it hard to be bothered by that.

I realized my last hamsterspam was right after I got Chai in January. So, I thought it might be time to spam you with more recent pictures of him. Because he's a hamster, and I can.

So, tonight I went to a Neapolitan Pizzeria with katmaxwell, nekokoban, and vulchu. Our waiter was fairly dashing, and extremely aware of said dashing-ness as he used it to his advantage.

After our pizzas were served, my (full) glass of Coke slipped out of my hand, landed on the ceramic pizza plate, and shattered very loudly, covering me and everything around me in soda and glass. Apparently this caused the whole restaurant to go silent.

Dashing Waiter immediately sent for another pizza ("And another Coke, but in a sippy cup this time, yeah?") while I went to the bathroom to dry off. There I discovered that I had somehow managed to slice my hand open during all this, and was bleeding on things. So I went back out in search of a bandaid.

I showed my hand to Dashing Waiter, who found this unacceptable because "that's your pizza eating hand! D:" And then went off to find a bandage that was big enough to cover it.

When he found one, he came back and insisted on putting it on.

Me: Oh good, it's a fabric one.
DW: Flexible, for pizza eating! Now, I'm no doctor... I work at a pizzeria.
Me: ...I know.
DW: But I have seen Doogie Howser!

Also, the others refuse to let me live this down.

So, now am co-mod of the new comm hetalia_doujin. I suppose I love my crazy fandom. And doujin. And I still wish I could make layouts.

And beanclam drew Doujinka!Japan for it because she's amazing.

Also, I spent last night making a directory of every doujin scan post in hetalia ever. In case you needed confirmation of my failing sanity.

Spent much of today following the situation in Iran. It's awful. Really makes you wish you could do something to help them. My thoughts are with all those brave people trying to change their country.

Was able to be distracted some by the surprisingly entertaining hetalia mod wank. I don't usually enjoy wank in my fandoms, but this was ridiculous.

And then I made cupcakes at 2 am. Because I could.

Haven't had much to say lately. I'm pretty boring. Alternating between looking for work and bumming around.

Am playing Persona 4 for a second time, which triggers me yelling at the screen a lot, which results in Katy sitting there and Judging Me.

Trying to get back into RPing, which causes me to suddenly become paranoid and then hide and then try again, in this pathetic little cycle. I think it's getting better, though. I just need to remind myself it's supposed to be about fun and not me trying to live up to other people.

I'm having a territory dispute with the cat. Feliciano seems convinced my room is his territory, particularly when I'm in it. And especially at 5 am, when I want to sleep but he wants to either attack my feet, climb through the blinds, or claw at my bed. And if I kick him out, he either scratches at the door for an extended period of time, or sits there wailing his head off in indignation. This is when I go and dump my glass of water on him, after which he sulks off, before starting the whole process over again an hour or so later.

I've been rolling one of the hamsters around in chinchilla sand in order to try and help his super-greasy fur and itchy skin. It seems to be working, actually. It would be nice if he didn't have to deal with that, Amigo's such a little poofy sweetheart.
